How this converter works
The conversions people reach for most: 100 km/h is 62.14 mph, 60 mph is 96.56 km/h, and 1 m/s is 3.6 km/h exactly. The last one is worth memorising, since it turns most physics answers into everyday numbers in one step.
Knots come from sea navigation — one nautical mile per hour, or 1.852 km/h — and are still standard in aviation and marine forecasts. Mach is included as a reference at 340.29 m/s, the speed of sound in dry air at 15 °C at sea level; it drops with temperature, so treat it as an approximation rather than a fixed conversion.

Why is Mach not a fixed speed?
It is a ratio to the local speed of sound, which falls as air gets colder. At cruising altitude Mach 1 is roughly 295 m/s, not 340.
